Community Activities

Poplar hills hosts' recreational, traditional, and social activities throughout the year. These activites include; Baseball tournmanets, Hockey tournaments, Spring hunting festivals, Fall hunting festivals, Treaty days and Christmas celebrations.  

Community Service

A. Scatch memorial school provides Ojibwe language and kindergarten to grade8. Students have the option to leave their community or they have the option to attend KIHS to attain a Grade 12 Diploma. The 24 hour nursing station provides daily clinics, telemedicine, public health services, and emergency services. Social Services are provided by the health and band office including; Tikinagan Child and Family Services, NNADAP, Brighter Futures, Ontario Works. Daily policing service is provided by NAPS (Nishnawbee-Aski Police Service). Court is held on quarterly basis in the community.

Local Businesses

Poplar Hill has a 4 suite motel with wifi and a shared kitchen and lounge. Poplar Hill owns and operates the local internet and cell phone service to residences and businesses. Cellular Data roaming is available on the Rogers Network. The E-centre is a training centre that is used for traditional teachings and assisting the Elders with traditional meals. Many youth sell baking and crafts through the buy and sell facebook group.
