McDowell Lake First Nation (Oji-Cree: Mishi Sakahikaniing) is a small and close-knit Oji-Cree community located in Northern Ontario, approximately 155 kilometers northeast of Red Lake, Ontario, on the central western shore of McDowell Lake. As of December 2007, the First Nation had a total registered population of 52 members. Despite its small size, McDowell Lake First Nation is rich in cultural heritage and remains deeply connected to its land and traditions.
